Bihar: Ahead of assembly elections in the state, BJP leader Surendra Kewat was allegedly shot dead in Sheikhpura district of Bihar.
His killing comes just a week after the high-profile daylight murder of businessman Gopal Khemka outside his home in Patna, according to reports.
ABP News reported that the 52-year-old leader of the BJP Kisan Morcha was killed by two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle in Bihar’s Sheikhpura district. According to police reports, the attack took place while Kewat was working in his agricultural fields.
Who is Surendra Kewat?
Surendra Kewat, was a former president of the BJP Kisan Morcha in Bihar’s Punpun.
He was hit by four bullets and immediately rushed to AIIMS Patna for treatment. Despite efforts by medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment, according to the report.
Postmortem examination of Surendra Kewat’s body is currently underway. The police have said that an FIR will be registered after a complaint is filed from the family.
Tejashwi Yadav takes a swipe
Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)’s Tejashwi Yadav, took a swipe at the state government with a post on social media platform X:
“And now, a BJP leader shot dead in Patna! What to say, and to whom? Is there anyone in the NDA government willing to listen to the truth or admit their mistakes?”
“Everyone knows about the CM’s health, but what are the two useless BJP deputy chief ministers doing?” Tejashwi Yadav questioned.
