When was the last time Chelsea won the FIFA Club World Cup?

Chelsea will look to cap off the season with a second trophy when it takes on French giant Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 final at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sunday (July 14 in IST).

The Premier League side came into the revamped tournament on the back of winning the UEFA Conference League title after beating Real Betis in the final in May.

But, it will face a tough test from its opponent PSG, which is chasing its fourth major trophy of the season after winning the UEFA Champions League, Ligue 1 and Coupe de France.

When was the last time Chelsea won the Club World Cup?

Chelsea has reached the Club World Cup final twice in its history – in 2012 and 2021 – after winning the UEFA Champions League in those seasons.

In 2012, however, it was defeated 0-1 in the final by Brazilian side Corinthians, courtesy of a header from Paolo Guerrero.

The London club made amends in 2021 and secured its first and only CWC title after beating Palmeiras 2-1 in extra time in the summit clash.

Romelu Lukaku put the Blues ahead nine minutes into the second half, but the goal was cancelled out 10 minutes later by Raphael Veiga from the spot.

With nothing separating the sides, the match seemed to be heading into penalties when Palmeiras’ Luan handled the ball inside his own penalty box. Kai Havertz stepped up to the spot in the 117th minute and cooly dispatched it into the back of the net to restore his side’s lead.
