People keep making a tragic mistake with their resumes that diminishes their visibility to the companies they apply to.

One mistake I see people make all the time in their job search is when they submit a resume. The resume has their name, that’s the good news. It has their phone number and email address, that’s the good news. However, there’s one thing that’s missing. I’m Jeff Altman, The Big Game Hunter. Do you want to know what’s missing? Zip code, postal code if you’re outside the US. The reason why it’s important to include it is, in the future, when you’re in their system and they’re trying to find someone with your background, they’re going to look for someone within a certain proximity of that postal code or zip code. Without it, they can’t find you because they’re not going to search by your phone number, nor by your city or state. They’re going to search by proximity to a zip code or postal code. Therefore, it’s important to include it on every resume you submit.
