June 2025 Retail Inflation Updates: About 85% of Japan households expect prices to rise a year from now, says BOJ
About 85% of Japanese households expect prices to rise a year from now, a quarterly central bank survey showed on Monday.
The figure compared with 86.7% in the previous survey in March, the Bank of Japan said.
The poll also showed 83.1% of households expect prices to rise five years from now, compared with 83.5% in the March survey, the central bank said.
The data highlight changing public perceptions on future price moves in once deflation-prone Japan, as companies continue to pass on rising raw material costs through price hikes.
The BOJ will consider revising up this month its inflation forecast for the current fiscal year, reflecting persistent rises in rice and broader food costs, sources have told Reuters. (Reuters)

June 2025 Retail Inflation Updates: Rupee, bonds to take cues from India, US inflation prints
The Indian rupee and government bonds will take cues from India and U.S. consumer inflation data this week, with traders also monitoring developments on U.S. trade policies as President Donald Trump adopts an aggressive posture on tariff threats.
The rupee closed at 85.80 on Friday, down 0.5% on the week.
Over the weekend, Trump threatened to impose a 30% tariff on imports from Mexico and the European Union starting August 1, adding to the 23 tariff letters sent to other trading partners like Canada, Brazil and Japan.
While the string of tariff announcements from the White House has kept global markets jittery, reactions have become relatively muted compared to earlier in the year, with analysts pointing out that complacency over trade could be tested.

June 2025 Retail Inflation Updates: India bond yields likely to witness uptick tracking US peers, local CPI data key
Indian government bond yields are set to open the week higher, tracking a spike in U.S. Treasury yields, with traders focusing on the local retail inflation data due within market hours later in the day for further cues.
The yield on the benchmark 10-year bond is expected to trade between 6.29% and 6.32% on Monday, a trader at a private bank said, after closing at 6.2994% on Friday.
The five-year 6.75% 2029 bond ended at 5.9636%.
Benign food prices and a high base likely helped Indian inflation slow to a more than six-year low in June, according to a Reuters poll of economists. Consumer inflation eased to 2.50% in June from 2.82% in May, the survey of 50 economists showed.
The data will be released at 4:00 p.m. IST.
