Ayush Mhatre struck a century while Abhigyan Kundu and Rahul Kumar missed out on theirs as India Under-19 finished on 450/7 at the end of the opening day of the first Youth Test against England Under-19 at Beckenham on Saturday.
Opting to bat, Vaibhav Suryavanshi fell early for 14 but captain Mhatre hit 102 off 115 balls added 173 runs for the second wicket with Vihaan Malhotra (67 off 99 balls).
When duo fell in quick succession, Kundu (90 off 95) and Rahul (85 off 81) added 179 runs for fifth wicket to take India past the 350-run mark before they, too, fell inside an over.
RS Ambrish (31 off 68*) added 32 runs with Mohamed Enaan and 30 runs with Henil Patel (6 off 24*) to end the day.
For England, Alex Green, Jack Home, and Archie Vaughan picked up two wickets each while Ralphie Albert got one to his name.
