In a major breakthrough in the Jainamma (Jain Mathew) disappearance case, forensic tests have confirmed that bloodstains found at the house of C.M. Sebastian at Pallippuram in Alappuzha belong to the missing woman.

Officials said that bloodstains matched blood samples collected from Jainamma’s siblings. Earlier this month, the Kottayam Crime Branch arrested Sebastian, a real estate broker, on charges of murdering Jainamma from Ettumanur in Kottayam. During the investigation, the police discovered bloodstains at his property.

The investigators have also recovered skeletal remains from the compound, which have been sent for DNA testing. Results are awaited.

Jainamma went missing from Ettumanur on December 23, 2024. Gold ornaments belonging to her, which Sebastian had sold, were recovered by the Crime Branch.

Besides Jainamma, Sebastian is also under investigation in connection with the disappearances of two other women – Bindhu Padmanabhan and Ayesha. The investigators have collected DNA samples from Bindhu’s and Ayesha’s relatives in addition to those from Jainamma’s family.
