The Independent Expert Working Group (IEWG) constituted by the Telangana Government to study the Socio-Economic, Education, Employment, Political and Caste Survey (SEEEPC survey) has submitted a 300-page report with its findings to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
The findings of the survey will help the government in formulating policies and streamlining and bettering existing ones to better enable social justice, social empowerment and social uplift.
The findings of the report, however, are not made public yet.
After the findings of the comprehensive survey were tabled in Assembly, the government referred the survey to a high-level independent committee headed by a retired Supreme Court Judge, Justice Sudarshan Reddy, for better understanding of the survey and how the data could be utilised.
The Caste Survey, held in two phases employing over 1.04 lakh enumerators and supervisors, was the first of its kind in the country.
As per the findings of the caste survey, the population of the OBCs (Hindu-only) stood at 1.64 crore or 46.25 per cent of the 3.55 crore population.
