Delhi’s Aveka Singh, a former India Under-15 international, has been signed by Naestved HG — a Denmark side playing in the Kvinde 1. division, the country’s second-tier of women’s football.
“We’re excited to welcome Aveka Singh to Naestved HG. The 21-year-old central midfielder joins us from UC Irvine Anteaters in the USA, where she played college soccer at a high level. Aveka brings vision, composure on the ball, and international experience to our midfield. We’re looking forward to seeing her in green – welcome to the team, Aveka!” the club announced in a statement on Saturday.
The 21-year-old arrives in Denmark after having previously played in USA for UC Irvine Anteaters — the team of the University of California in Irvine. She has also turned out for Spanish lower-division side Terrassa.
Aveka has represented India at U-15 level – winning the 2018 SAFF title in Bhutan.
A teenaged Aveka took her first steps in the sport after her school decided to form a football team for girls, starting out as a left winger like her hero Neymar.
