The Ministry of Railways has announced its plan to introduce CCTV cameras in all its passenger and locomotive coaches with the aim of improving passenger safety, according to an official statement released on Sunday, 13 July 2025.
Indian Railways will install the camera based on the ‘positive response’ of the experimental installation programme of the CCTVs in the passenger coaches.
“Based on the positive outcome of experimental installation of CCTV cameras in passenger coaches, Railways has decided to install CCTV cameras in all coaches. This move will significantly improve passenger safety,” said the Ministry of Railways in the official statement.
