Did India and Pakistan teams shake hands after Asia Cup 2025 match?

The Indian team continued to refrain from engaging in any pleasantries with Pakistan after routing them by six wickets in their Super 4 encounter at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. After a clinical run chase, Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma quietly walked back to the dressing room without shaking hands with their opponents, as was the case last Sunday too.

However, they had a small chat in the dressing room before returning to the ground, having a few handshakes with the umpires, and returning as the Pakistani side stood dumbfounded over there. Rival skipper Salman Agha was seen having a quick chat with coach Mike Hesson, which many speculated to be about him addressing the post-match presentation ceremony, as he had not done so post the group-stage clash between the two sides.

“The way the boys are stepping up in every game is making my job very easy. The boys demonstrated a great deal of character. They were calm after the first 10 overs (of India’s bowling innings). After drinks, I told them the game starts now. That’s fine, he’s not a robot, he will have a bad day someday (talking about Bumrah). Dube bailed us out of the situation. They complement each other really well (Abhishek and Gill). It’s like the combination of fire and ice,” skipper Suryakumar Yadav said after the game.
Abhishek Sharma was named the Player of the Match for his exceptional outing, where he smashed 74 runs off 39 deliveries. After the game, he hit back at the demeanour of the Pakistani side, criticising their tendency to take swipes at him and Shubman Gill for no good reason during the chase.

“Today was pretty simple. The way they were coming out to us without any reason, I did not like it at all. That’s why I went after them. I wanted to deliver for the team. (On his stand with Gill) We have been playing since school days, we enjoy each other’s company, we thought we would do it and today was the day. The way he was giving it back, I really enjoyed it,” he remarked after the match.
