A special investigation team set up by the Supreme Court has “expressed satisfaction” with legal requirements followed at an animal rescue and care project founded by Reliance chief Mukesh Ambani’s younger son Anant.
The two-judge bench will pass its order after reviewing the panel’s detailed report and its recommendations for the wildlife care home as well as those for government authorities, the court said on Monday. The team was set up last month by the Supreme Court of India to probe several allegations against the wildlife care home, Vantara Greens Zoological Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre.
While expressing its reservations over a public interest petition, the court had ordered investigations by a four member-panel headed by retired Supreme Court judge Jasti Chelameswar. The panel examined accusations, including unlawful acquisition of animals, money laundering, financial irregularities and mistreatment of animals by Vantara.
The panel filed a report on its findings in a sealed cover on September 12. The court said a detailed order outlining its recommendations will be published later.
