An orientation programme being inaugurated at the Visvesvaraya Technological University Regional Centre in Kalaburagi on Thursday.

Reaffirming its commitment to inclusive education and global academic outreach, the Kalaburagi Regional Centre of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, organised a one-day orientation programme on Abroad Study Opportunities and the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar International Scholarship for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes students here on Thursday.
The event was held as part of the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) initiative under the leadership of Regional Director Shubhangi D.C. who presided over it.
The programme aimed to empower Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes students by providing structured guidance on international education prospects and government-supported scholarship schemes.
Joint Director of the Department of Social Welfare Preeti Doddamani, who was the chief guest, inaugurated the programme.
In her address, she reiterated the government’s commitment to equitable access to education and urged students to seize international opportunities that can transform their academic and professional trajectories.
Assistant Director of Social Welfare Department, Aland, Vijayalakshmi Holkar and Assistant Director of Social Welfare Department, Chittapur, Chetan Gurikar attended the event as guests of honour.
Expert sessions were conducted by resource persons from the Indira Gandhi Centre for Career Development, including Prashant Tibrewal, Khushboo Agarwal, and Priyanka Nahata.
They provided in-depth insights into international academic avenues, eligibility criteria for scholarships, application procedures and effective preparatory strategies, encouraging students to explore global education with confidence and clarity.
The programme witnessed active participation from students across disciplines and faculty members from various departments, fostering a vibrant academic atmosphere.
In her presidential remarks, Ms. Shubhangi underlined the transformative power of education, especially in bridging gaps for students from marginalised communities.
She invoked the vision of B.R. Ambedkar highlighting the relevance of such initiatives in enabling access to global learning and equity in higher education.
The event was coordinated by Rahul Moolbharati from the Department of Management Studies at the Regional Centre.
