Phil Robertson gave his family the OK to move on without him.
Ahead of the Duck Dynasty star’s death, he left his family with a special message.
“Phil had such a strong faith. He told us before, ‘Do not cry at my funeral. I know where I’m going,’” Willie Robertson said in an interview with TV Insider published July 25. “What a life he lived. We heard that from thousands of people, the people he impacted.”
Phil—who starred alongside his family in original Duck Dynasty for 11 seasons—died in May at the age of 79, five months after sharing his Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis. As Willie, his wife Korie Robertson and their children Rebecca, 36, John Luke, 29, Sadie, 28, Bella, 22, Will Jr., 23, and Rowdy, 22, filmed Duck Dynasty: The Revival—they had late patriarch’s blessing.
“Phil would have wanted us to do exactly what we’re doing,” Willie said. “Whatever is a reflection of that faith, and our show is a reflection of our faith.”
And though Phil was off-camera during filming, Korie is glad the world got to see one of his final moments with Willie.
